Microsoft distributes fixes in service packs. Service packs keep a product current. They include hotfixes and software updates. Service packs may also include system administration tools, drivers, and additional components. These updates and components are conveniently bundled for easy downloading.Service packs are cumulative. Each new service pack contains all the fixes that are in previous service packs, together with any new fixes. You do not have to install a previous service pack before you install the latest one. For example, you do not have to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1) before you install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Update sql server 2005 standard to enterprise edition Ed7
Hi Geoff, I guess technically if the only access to SQL Server is the server itself and there are no connections from other machines just having the server level license should be sufficient. Take a look at this document for more info on SQL 2005 licensing: -b514-48ab-93eb-61377df9c5c2/SQLServer2005Licensingv1.1.doc

Yes, you can use SQL Server 2000 Query Analyzer to connect to a database in SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) is an IDE that provides a graphical interface for connecting and working with MS SQL server. It was launched with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and is used for configuring, managing, and administering all components within Microsoft SQL Server.
SSMS first version was with SQL server 2005. SSMS remains an integral part of SQL server with SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2016. In 2016, Microsoft started the first numerical series of versioning with the SSMS version number as 16.3. All series include 16.x, 17.x and 18.0 as version numbers.

Create an Enterprise server by creating a database in the database provider and then sharing a component into that database. This topic uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition as an example. Procedures for other database providers will be similar.
Microsoft provides free download of a complete installation package for Microsoft's SQL Server Express, the same engine that powers SQL Server. Installing SQL Server Express allows high performance, centralized DBMS storage via Enterprise servers using SQL Server capabilities without any additional purchase required. See the SQL Server Express Edition topic for more.
The IGS database comprises 70 tables and over 310 stored procedures. It can be setup on most of the modern relational databases as long as the database supports stored procedures. Some recoding is necessary to reflect syntax differences in stored procedures. Considering the large scale data IGS is handling, an enterprise level product should be used to provide the reliability, availability, and scalability, e.g. Oracle, IBM DB2, and Microsoft SQL. Open source database like MySQL can be used as well since the most recent version of MySQL (5.0, released at the end of 2005) added the stored procedure ability. 2ff7e9595c
